(06/30/2010)  TMEIC GE Receives C-TPAT Certification

Roanoke, Va. (June 30, 2010) – TMEIC GE announces it has received certification through the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), a voluntary partnership between U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the private business sector to improve international supply chain and U.S. border security.

CBP offers benefits to certified C-TPAT members such as priority processing for CBP inspections and reduced number of CBP inspections for less border delay times.

According to Dale Guidry, President and CEO with TMEIC GE, the move to obtain C-TPAT certification was representative of TMEIC’s commitment to corporate citizenship but also offers added benefits to TMEIC customers around the globe.

“As a C-TPAT Certified supplier, our import process is simplified for more efficient product delivery, and enhances our customer’s supply chain security as well as our own,” says Rene Gagnier, Project Coordination Manager, Operations, “Many of our customers have encouraged their suppliers to obtain C-TPAT certification, and we strongly agreed this was an important step in our continued efforts to provide reliable customer service.”

C-TPAT Certification requires companies to provide CPB with a detailed report of procedures already in place to enhance supply chain security, including supplier selection process; verification of secure supplier facilities; employee security policy; IT security policy; warehouse operations; and import operations.

TMEIC GE received certification in September 2009, validated by a visit by CBP to the company’s facility in February 2010.
