Hot Flat Rolling Fundamentals Training Seminar

TMEIC GE will be presenting at the Hot Flat Rolling Fundamentals Training Seminar, February 21-25, 2010, Orlando, Florida
Mr. Wlodzimierz Filipczyk, Metals Industry Application Engineer, will be teaching a course covering “Gauge and Width Control” at the seminar.
The seminar provides a comprehensive overview of hot rolling. The course covers fundamentals, metallurgical and quality requirements, equipment, rolling theory, control, rolls, temperature control, measurement, safety and new technology. The Seminar is sponsored by AIST’s Hot Sheet Rolling Technology Committee.
Mr. Filipczyk’s course will provide an overview of thickness and width control strategies. The setup functionality for both thickness and width will be discussed, including adaptation techniques. Automatic gauge control and automatic width control functions will be presented in detail, as well as special control strategies for the semi-continuous rolling process. Additionally, actual performance levels for thickness and width tolerances will be shown.
Mr. Filipczyk has more than 35 years of experience in Metals Automation, and is the author of “Methodology and Results of Major Hot Strip Mill Modernization Projects,” Chapter 3 of the newly released book, “Flat-Rolled Steel Processes: Advanced Technologies”, edited by Mr. Vladimir B. Ginzburg.
