(07/19/2010)  Steven Peak Awarded “Above and Beyond” Award by Southwest Virginia Junior Achievement

Roanoke, Va. (July 23, 2010)--Steven C. Peak, Technical Executive of TMEIC GE in Roanoke, Va., has been awarded the 2010 “Above and Beyond” award from Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia. Peak received the award at the organization’s board meeting held June 15.

Peak was given the award to recognize “his exemplary giving nature, leadership, and creativity accomplishing goals for the sake of providing essential economic education to the children of this region.” Peak has served on the board of directors of Junior Achievement for 11 years. He has served as board co-chairman, chairman-elect, and chaired several board committees. This year, Peak was chairman of the Volunteers Committee and served on the Executive Board.

“Steven has been a fantastic mentor for our young students considering a career in business,” says Katherin Elam, president of Southwest Virginia Junior Achievement. “His tireless dedication to this year’s projects have inspired hundreds to work hard to reach their business goals.”

TMEIC GE encourages employees to become involved in local non-profit organizations, says Dale Guidry, President and CEO of TMEIC GE. “We’re proud that our employees contribute thousands of hours annually toward projects that help families and young people in the Roanoke Valley,” he says.

Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose aim is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. It serves more than 9,700 students in 17 Southwest Virginia counties with more than 300 volunteers.
